Who? - This site is run by Mike and Ally Ward from Fleet, Hampshire.
Why? - With the introduction of alternate week collections and additional types of bin
many people were confused about which bin to put out when. This means they either leave all their bins out
(which is unsightly and risks a fine) or they forget to put their bin out which means it
doesn't get emptied for
4 weeks! We felt there was a need for a reliable reminder system, so we built it!
To paraphrase an old advert ... We hated the problem so much, we fixed it!
Hart Only? - We started with the Hart District Council area (since it is our home area) and have now expanded to include
Crawley and Spelthorne Borough Councils in our database. The same system
can be used for other councils and we are hoping to roll it out to many, subject to funding from the
Councils themselves or an environmental sponsor.
Free? - The online system and the reminders are entirely free to the householder. The current system
is running as a trial to prove the concept and we are funding this ourselves. In future we aim to have
councils or sponsors funding the system.
